In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
