The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
