And certainly We created man of clay that gives forth sound, of black mud fashioned in shape. 26 whereas the invisible beings We had created, [long] before that, out of the fire of scorching winds. 27 But when your Lord said to the angels: "I am verily going to create a human being from fermented clay dried tingling hard; 28 And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, bow before him in homage;" 29 The angels bowed in homage in a body 30 But Iblis did not; he refused to be with the prostrates. 31 Said Allah, “O Iblis! What happened to you that you stayed apart from those who prostrated?” 32 He replied: 'I will not prostrate to a mortal You have created of clay, from molded mud' 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 and will be subjected to condemnation until the Day of Judgment." 35 He said: 'My Lord, reprieve me till the Day they are raised' 36 He said: Then lo! thou art of those reprieved 37 "Till the Day of the Time appointed." 38 He said, “My Lord! I swear by the fact that You sent me astray, I shall distract them in the earth, and I shall lead all of them astray.” 39 Except, among them, Your chosen servants." 40 God said, "The path which leads to Me is a straight 41 verily, thou shalt have no power over My creatures - unless it be such as are [already] lost in grievous error and follow thee [of their own will]: 42 And surely Hell is the promised place of them all: 43 with seven gates leading into it, each gate receiving its allotted share of sinners. 44
