Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
