At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here]!" 62 "We have come to you with news," they said, "of what your people doubt; 63 We bring you the truth, and indeed we are truthful. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 And fear Allah and do not disgrace me." 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 He said: 'Here are my daughters; take them (in marriage), if you would be doing' 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 Verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 75 And verily! They (the cities) were right on the highroad (from Makkah to Syria i.e. the place where the Dead Sea is now). 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Wood (near Midian) were also wicked. 78 So We punished them too. They are both situated by the highway, clearly visible. 79
