And We have certainly created you, [O Mankind], and given you [human] form. Then We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam"; so they prostrated, except for Iblees. He was not of those who prostrated. 11 God asked, "What prevented you from prostrating yourself when I commanded you to?" He replied, "I am better than he is; You created me from fire, while You created him from clay." 12 (Allah) said: "Get thee down from this: it is not for thee to be arrogant here: get out, for thou art of the meanest (of creatures)." 13 He said: Respite me until the day when they are raised up. 14 Allah said: 'You are granted respite.' 15 Said he, 'Now, for Thy perverting me, I shall surely sit in ambush for them on Thy straight path; 16 Then surely I will come upon them from before them and from behind them and from their right and from their left, and Thou shalt not find the most of them thankful. 17 [Allah] said, "Get out of Paradise, reproached and expelled. Whoever follows you among them - I will surely fill Hell with you, all together." 18 And (We said): O Adam! Dwell you and your wife in the garden; so eat from where you desire, but do not go near this tree, for then you will be of the unjust. 19 But the Shaitan made an evil suggestion to them that he might make manifest to them what had been hidden from them of their evil inclinations, and he said: Your Lord has not forbidden you this tree except that you may not both become two angels or that you may (not) become of the immortals. 20 And he swore to them both, that he was their sincere adviser. 21 Thus he cunningly seduced them. When they tasted the tree's fruit, their nakedness became exposed to them and they started covering themselves with the leaves of the garden. Their Lord called out to them, "Did I not forbid you to approach that tree, and did I not say to you that Satan was surely your open enemy?" 22 They said: "Our Lord! We have wronged our own souls: If thou forgive us not and bestow not upon us Thy Mercy, we shall certainly be lost." 23 He said: Go down (from hence), one of you a foe unto the other. There will be for you on earth a habitation and provision for a while. 24 You will live there, and there will you die," He said, "and be raised from there (On the Day of Doom)." 25
