Al-Shams

The Sun (Al-Shams)

15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

And by the sun and its brightness; 1 and by the moon as it follows it, 2 By the Day as it shows up (the Sun's) glory; 3 And the night when it enshroudeth him, 4 and by the sky and by Him Who made it; 5 by the earth and that (Power) which spread it out 6 by the soul and how He formed it, 7 And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness, 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 And he fails that corrupts it! 10 The tribe of Thamud denied with rebellion. 11 when the most wicked of them broke forth, 12 So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink. 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 And He does not fear its coming behind (to take vengeance). 15

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
