The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 there is no denying its coming 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virginal, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
