And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
