Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
True are the words of God the Almighty.
