Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I CALL TO WITNESS the Day of Resurrection, 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 What, does man reckon We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips. 4 None the less man chooses to deny what lies ahead of him, 5 He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 So when vision is dazzled 7 the moon eclipsed. 8 And the sun and the moon will be united. 9 On that Day shall man say: whither is the fleeing. 10 Never! There is no refuge! 11 With thy Sustainer, on that Day, the journey's end will be! 12 Man shall on that day be informed of what he sent before and (what he) put off. 13 Nay, man will be evidence against himself, 14 Although he may put forth his pleas. 15 Do not move your tongue with it (the Revelation) to hasten it. 16 Surely it is for Us to have you commit it to memory and to recite it. 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 Nay; the truth is that you love ardently (the good of this world) that can be obtained hastily, 20 and are oblivious of the Hereafter. 21 On that day, some faces will shine with freshness. 22 gazing upon their Lord; 23 And countenances on that Day shall be scowling. 24 Knowing that they will be subjected to a torment that breaks the backs. 25 Nay! When it comes up to the throat, 26 And it is said: Who will be a magician? 27 And he (the dying person) will conclude that it was (the time) of departing (death); 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 upon that day unto thy Lord shall be the driving. 30
