Thamud (people also) belied the warnings. 23 For they said; Is it a mortal man, alone among us, that we are to follow? Then indeed we should fall into error and madness. 24 Hath the remembrance been given unto him alone among us? Nay, but he is a rash liar. 25 They will know tomorrow who is the insolent liar. 26 We are sending to them as a trial, a shecamel, so watch them and have patience. 27 Let them know that the water should be divided between them and the she-camel, each availing their turn.” 28 But they call their comrade and he took and hamstrung (her). 29 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 30 Lo! We sent upon them one Shout, and they became as the dry twigs (rejected by) the builder of a cattle-fold. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 32 Lot's people also gave the lie to the warnings, 33 and behold, We let loose upon them a tempest which rained stones upon them, except upon Lot's household whom We rescued in the last hours of the night 34 Thus do We recompense the grateful ones. 35 And indeed he had warned them of Our seizure – in response they doubted the warnings. 36 And certainly they endeavored to turn him from his guests, but We blinded their eyes; so taste My chastisement and My warning. 37 And in truth the punishment decreed befell them early in the morning. 38 So have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings. 39 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 40

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
