The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Most Beneficent (Allah)! 1 Has taught the Qur’an to His beloved Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him). 2 He created man 3 and has taught him intelligible speech. 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 And the herbs and the trees do obeisance. 6 He raised the sky and set the Balance 7 That ye should not trespass in respect of the balance. 8 and weigh with justice, and skimp not in the Balance.) 9 And He has set up the earth for all beings. 10 Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates] 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created man of clay like the potter's, 14 And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 Lord of the East and Lord of the West. 17 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 Whereas there is a barrier between them so they cannot encroach upon one another. 20 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 21 Out of them come Pearls and Coral: 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 His are the ships with elevated sails upon the sea like mountains. 24 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 25
