Surely We created man of a clay of mud moulded, 26 And the jinn We created before, of intensely hot fire. 27 Your Lord said to the angels, "I am about to bring into being a man wrought from mud. 28 And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, bow before him in homage;" 29 Therefore all the angels, each and every one of them, fell prostrate. 30 But Iblis did not; he refused to be with the prostrates. 31 He said: 'iblis, what is the matter with you, that you do you not prostrate yourself' 32 "How could I bow," said he, "before a mortal whom You created from fermented clay dried tingling hard?" 33 "Go hence, execrable," (said the Lord), "from this place, 34 "And the curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment." 35 He said, “My Lord! Grant me respite till the day when they will all be raised.” 36 Allah said: "Then, verily, you are of those reprieved, 37 for an appointed time." 38 [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them - into grievous error 39 [all] save such of them as are truly Thy servants!" 40 Said He: "This is, with Me, a straight way: 41 "Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawin (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). 42 And verily Hell is the place promised unto them all. 43 To it are seven gates: for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
