The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And shade extended 30 near to flowing water 31 And abundant fruit, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
