The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and continuous shade, 30 and flowing water, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 and raised couches 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
