In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO WITNESS those who are sent consecutively, 1 and then storming on with a tempest's force, 2 by (the angels) spreading (the words of God) far and wide, 3 Then separate them, one from another, 4 and those (angels) dropping, reminding 5 to excuse some and warn others: 6 What is promised will surely come to pass. 7 When the stars lose their light, 8 And when the heaven is cleft asunder; 9 When the mountains are scattered (to the winds) as dust; 10 And when the apostles are collected at the appointed time, 11 For what day is that time fixed? 12 To the Day of Judgement. 13 And what will make you comprehend what the day of decision is? 14 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 15 Did We not destroy the former peoples? 16 And We shall cause those of later times to follow them. 17 So We serve the sinners. 18 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 19 Did We not create you from a base fluid 20 which We then placed in a secure repository 21 For a known period (determined by gestation)? 22 And We determined [it], and excellent [are We] to determine. 23 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 24 Made We not the earth to be a housing 25 for the living and the dead, 26 And have placed therein firm, and tall mountains; and have given you to drink sweet water? 27 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 28 (It will be said unto them:) Depart unto that (doom) which ye used to deny; 29 Proceed to a shadow rising in three columns: 30 Neither having the coolness of the shade nor availing against the flame. 31 "Indeed it throws about sparks (huge) as Forts, 32 As though they were camels yellow tawny. 33 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 34 that Day on which they will not [be able to] utter a word, 35 And permission shall not be given to them so that they should offer excuses. 36 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 37 That will be a Day of Decision! We have brought you and the men of old together! 38 If now you have any strategy, use it against Me. 39 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 40
