Is it not a lesson for the successors of the past generations that had We wanted, We could have punished them for their sins, sealed their hearts and deprived them of hearing? 100 These towns-- We relate to you some of their stories, and certainly their apostles came to them with clear arguments, but they would not believe in what they rejected at first; thus does Allah set a seal over the hearts of the unbelievers 101 And We found no covenant in most of them; and most of them We found ungodly. 102 After those We sent forth Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his assembly, but with it they harmed. Look at the end of the corrupters. 103 Moses said, "Pharaoh, I am a messenger from the Lord of the Universe, 104 duty-bound to say nothing about God but the truth, and I have brought you a clear sign from your Lord. Let the Children of Israel go with me." 105 Said he, 'If thou hast brought a sign, produce it, if thou speakest truly.' 106 At this Moses threw down his staff, and lo, it became a live serpent. 107 And he drew forth his hand, and behold, it looked white to those who beheld it. 108
