Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a high Garden 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 raised couches, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 cushions ranged, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
