The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
