The Embryo (Al-Alaq)

In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
