AND, INDEED, We have created man out of sounding clay, out of dark-slime transmuted 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 When your Lord said to the angels: 'See, I am creating a mortal from clay of molded mud. 28 "When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him." 29 So the angels made obeisance, all of them together, 30 save Iblis; he refused to be among those bowing. 31 Allah said: O Iblis! what aileth thou that thou art not with the prostrates? 32 He replied, "I am not one to prostrate myself to a man whom You have created out of a clay of moulded mud." 33 (Allah) said: 'Begone, you are accursed! 34 And verily on thee shall be the curse till the Day of Requital. 35 He said, “My Lord! Grant me respite till the day when they will all be raised.” 36 Answered He: "Verily, so be it: thou shalt be among those who are granted respite 37 unto the day of a known time.' 38 He said: my Lord! because Thou hast led me to err I will surely make things fairseeming unto them on the earth and will surely seduce them all: 39 Except Thy servants from among them, the devoted ones. 40 Said He, 'This is for Me a straight path: 41 Lo! as for My slaves, thou hast no power over any of them save such of the froward as follow thee, 42 and for all such, behold, hell is the promised goal. 43 it has seven gates: and each gate has a portion of them allotted to it. 44
