So also was Jonah among those sent (by Us). 139 He abandoned his people 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was condemned: 141 So the fish swallowed him while he did that for which he blamed himself 142 And were he not one of those who praise. – 143 He would have tarried in the belly thereof till the Day when they are raised. 144 ۞ But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill. 145 and caused a gourd tree to grow over him, 146 And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more. 147 and [this time] they believed [in him] and so We allowed them to enjoy their life during the time allotted to them? 148 Now, ask them, has your Lord daughters, and they sons? 149 Or that have We created the angels as females, while they were present? 150 Then is it of their lying that they say: 151 "Allah has begotten children"? but they are liars! 152 “Has he chosen daughters instead of sons?” 153 What ails you that you judge in such a wise? 154 Will you not then reflect? 155 Or do you have a clear authority? 156 Then produce your scriptures, if you are telling the truth. 157 And they imagine kinship between him and the jinn, whereas the jinn know well that they will be brought before (Him). 158 Exalted is Allah above what they describe, 159 Except the slaves of Allah, whom He choses (for His Mercy i.e. true believers of Islamic Monotheism who do not attribute false things unto Allah). 160 So neither you nor those you worship 161 can cause anyone to fall prey to your temptation 162 Except one who is (destined) to burn in Hell. 163 There is not one of us but hath his known position. 164 “And indeed we, with our wings spread, await the command.” 165 We glorify God." 166 And indeed, the disbelievers used to say, 167 “If we had some advice from the earlier generations,” – 168 We would be single-minded slaves of Allah. 169 Yet (now that it is come) they disbelieve therein; but they will come to know. 170 Already Our Word has preceded to Our servants, the Envoys; 171 That they would be helped, 172 And most surely Our host alone shall be the victorious ones. 173 So turn away (O Muhammad SAW) from them for a while, 174 And watch them, for they will soon see. 175 So are they being impatient for Our punishment? 176 When it comes down on their plains, it will be an evil dawn for those who had been warned. 177 Leave them alone for a while, 178 And see, for they are going to see. 179 LIMITLESS in His glory is thy Sustainer, the Lord of almightiness, [exalted] above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 180 Peace be with the Messengers (of God). 181 and all praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Universe. 182
