Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Indubitable! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 The tribes of Thamud and A’ad denied the event of great dismay. (The Day of Resurrection) 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! 19 I was certain I'll be given my account." 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 In a lofty garden, 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 (It will be said): Take him and fetter him 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
