The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
