The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great event, 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
