The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will be opened it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
