The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
