The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
