The Cave (Al-Kahf)
110 verses, revealed in Mecca after Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah) before The Bee (Al-nahl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Praise be to Allah, Who hath sent to His Servant the Book, and hath allowed therein no Crookedness: 1 Immutable, so that it may warn of a severe punishment from Him; and give happy tidings to those who believe and do the right that there is a better reward (of Paradise) for them, 2 They will abide therein for ever. 3 Furthermore, [this divine writ is meant] to warn all those who assert, "God has taken unto Himself a son." 4 (A thing) whereof they have no knowledge, nor (had) their fathers, Dreadful is the word that cometh out of their mouths. They speak naught but a lie. 5 Perhaps, you, would kill yourself (O Muhammad SAW) in grief, over their footsteps (for their turning away from you), because they believe not in this narration (the Quran). 6 Lo! We have placed all that is on the earth as an ornament thereof that We may try them: which of them is best in conduct. 7 We will surely reduce all that is on it to barren dust. 8 Or dost thou think the Men of the Cave and Er-Rakeem were among Our signs a wonder? 9 When the young men took refuge in the Cave then said, “Our Lord! Give us mercy from Yourself, and arrange guidance for us in our affair.” 10 We sealed off their ears in the cave for a number of years, 11 We then awakened them to see which of the two groups more accurately tells the period they had stayed. 12
