The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 and brightening morning, 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
