Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Say: 'It has been revealed to me that a company of the jinn gave ear, then they said, "We have indeed heard a Koran wonderful, 1 'It gives guidance to the Right, and we have believed therein: we shall not join (in worship) any (gods) with our Lord. 2 for [we know] that sublimely exalted is our Sustainer's majesty: no consort has He ever taken unto Himself, nor a son! 3 "'And [now we know] that the foolish among us were wont to say outrageous things about God, 4 And that we thought that men and jinn did not utter a lie against Allah: 5 And that persons from among men used to seek refuge with persons from among jinn, so they increased them in wrongdoing: 6 'And they thought as you thought, that Allah will not send any Messenger (to mankind or jinns). 7 And we sought to reach the heaven; then we found it filled with a strong guard and darting meteors. 8 We would sit there on seats to hear; but any listening now finds a meteor in wait for him. 9 ‘And we do not know whether harm is intended for those on the earth, or whether their Lord intends goodness for them.’ 10 'There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary: we follow divergent paths. 11 We realised that we could not weaken the power of God on earth, nor outpace Him by running away. 12 And when we heard the guidance, we believed in it. And whoever believes in his Lord will not fear deprivation or burden. 13 Some of us are Muslims and some of us have deviated from the Truth. Whoever has embraced Islam has followed the right guidance. 14 but as for those who abandon themselves to wrongdoing - they are indeed but fuel for [the fires of] hell!'" 15 And [Allah revealed] that if they had remained straight on the way, We would have given them abundant provision 16 so that We might try them through this bounty. Whoso turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to suffer a grievous chastisement; 17 "And the places of worship are for Allah (alone): So invoke not any one along with Allah; 18 When the devotee of God stood up to invoke Him (the jinns) crowded upon him (to listen). 19
