The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And clustered plantains, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
