The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
