The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Most Merciful 1 Hath made known the Qur'an. 2 He created man, 3 He taught distinctness. 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 [before Him] prostrate themselves the stars and the trees. 6 And Allah has raised the sky; and He has set the balance. 7 That you not transgress within the balance. 8 And observe the weight with equity and do not make the balance deficient. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates); 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He has created man, from dry ringing clay, like the potter"s, 14 and He created the jinn of a smokeless fire. 15 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 16 Lord of the two easts and of the two wests is He. 17 Which of the powers of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 18 He released the two seas, meeting [side by side]; 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 21 There cometh forth from both of them the pearl and coral-stone. 22 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 25
