He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 So you are after him! 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 you ignore him. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
