So when the envoys came to the household of Lot, 61 he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here]!" 62 'No' they replied: 'We bring you (news) of that concerning which they were doubting. 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." 65 And We made known to him this decree that the wrongdoers were to be utterly cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro. 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 Since the People of the Forest were unjust, 78 So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
