The Thamud tribe denied the Noble Messengers. 141 When their brother Salih said unto them: fear ye not? 142 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 143 So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 145 Will you be left in what is here, secure [from death], 146 Within gardens and springs 147 and cornfields and date-palms laden with juicy fruits? 148 and that you will [always be able to] hew dwellings out of the mountains with [the same] great skill?" 149 So fear Allah, and obey me. 150 And obey not the command of the prodigal, 151 Who make mischief in the land and do not act aright. 152 They said: thou art but one of the bewitched; 153 You are a mere mortal like us. Show us a miracle if you are telling the Truth". 154 He said: (Behold) this she-camel. She hath the right to drink (at the well), and ye have the right to drink, (each) on an appointed day. 155 Do not molest her lest the chastisement of an Awesome Day should seize you." 156 But they hamstrung her, and in the morning they were remorseful, 157 and the punishment seized them. Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 158 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 159
