Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! 4 But man would fain deny what is before him. 5 asking [derisively,] "When is that Resurrection Day to be?" 6 But when sight is confounded 7 the moon eclipsed. 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 That day man will say: "Where can I find escape?" 10 Never so, for there will be no escape. 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 On that Day will man be apprised of his deeds, both the earlier and the later. 13 But lo, man is well aware of himself, 14 even though he may veil himself in excuses. 15 (O Prophet), do not stir your tongue hastily (to commit the Revelation to memory). 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 We shall be responsible for its explanation. 19 No! But you love the immediate 20 and neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will be radiant on that Day, 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 And countenances on that Day shall be scowling. 24 believing that a crushing calamity is about to strike them. 25 Yes indeed, when the soul will reach up to the throat. 26 and it is said, 'Who is an enchanter?' 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 at that time towards thy Sustainer does he feel impelled to turn! 30
