NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 except those of the right hand 39 In Gardens they will question 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 So, whoever wills may benefit from it. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
