Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those [winds] sent forth in gusts 1 By the raging hurricanes, 2 By those which cause earth's vegetation to revive; 3 then winnow them thoroughly, 4 And those winds that bring down the remembrance. 5 to serve as an excuse or a warning. 6 surely that which you are promised is about to fall! 7 When the stars lose their light, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder, 9 And when the mountains are blown away; 10 And when the messengers' time has come... 11 For what Day are these (portents) deferred? 12 For the Day of Decision. 13 And what will make you comprehend what the day of decision is? 14 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth. 15 Did We not destroy the ancients, 16 And We shall cause those of later times to follow them. 17 This is how We deal with the guilty. 18 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 19 Did We not create you from an insignificant drop of fluid 20 which We placed within a sure lodging 21 For a known term? 22 Thus did We Plan and how excellent is Our planning! 23 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 24 Have We not made the earth a container 25 for the living and for the dead? 26 Have We not placed high mountains upon it and filled you with sweet water? 27 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 28 (It will be said unto them:) Depart unto that (doom) which ye used to deny; 29 Proceed to that shadow, rising in three columns 30 Neither having the coolness of the shade nor availing against the flame. 31 Surely it sends up sparks like palaces, 32 which seem as though they are yellow-coloured camels. 33 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 34 This is a Day whereon they shall not be able to speak. 35 Nor given leave to make excuses. 36 Woe on that Day to those who belied it! 37 This is the Day of Decision, We have assembled both ye and the ancients. 38 if you have a trick, try you now to trick Me!' 39 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 40
