The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the sun and his early morning splendour, 1 By the moon when it followeth it, 2 By the day when it glorifieth it. 3 and by the night as it envelopes the sun; 4 by the heavens and that (Power) which established them, 5 And by oath of the earth and by oath of Him Who spread it. 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- 8 He has succeeded who purifies it, 9 And he will indeed fail who corrupts it. 10 The Thamud tribe rejected the truth because of their arrogance, 11 When the most wicked man among them went forth (to kill the she-camel). 12 although God's apostle had told them, "It is a she-camel belonging to God, so let her drink [and do her no harm]!" 13 But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings). 14 And He does not fear its coming behind (to take vengeance). 15
God the Almighty always says the truth.
