And a sign for them is the dead land. We gave it life, and We brought forth from it grains, so that they eat thereof. 33 And We placed therein gardens of palm trees and grapevines and caused to burst forth therefrom some springs - 34 That they may eat of the fruit thereof, and their hands did not make it; will they not then be grateful? 35 Exalted is He who created all pairs - from what the earth grows and from themselves and from that which they do not know. 36 And a sign to them is the night: We draw forth from it the day, then lo! they are in the dark; 37 And the sun runneth on unto a resting-place for him. That is the measuring of the Mighty, the Wise. 38 And the moon, We have measured for it mansions (to traverse) till it returns like the old dried curved date stalk. 39 It behoves not the sun to overtake the moon, neither does the night outstrip the day, each swimming in a sky. 40 And a sign unto them is that We bear their offspring in a laden ship. 41 And We have created for them of the like thereunto, so on them they ride. 42 And if We will, We can drown them, so there would be no help in their distress, nor would they be saved. 43 Unless by mercy from Us and as comfort for a while. 44 When they are told, "Fear ye that which is before you and that which will be after you, in order that ye may receive Mercy," (they turn back). 45 Indeed, not one of your Lord's signs comes to them without their turning away from it, 46 And when it is said unto them: expend of that wherewith Allah hath provided you, those who disbelieve say unto those who believe: shall we feed those whom God Himself would have fed, if He listed? Ye are in naught else than error manifest. 47 And they say: "When will this promise (i.e. Resurrection) be fulfilled, if you are truthful?" 48 They await but one Shout, which will seize them while they dispute. 49 Therefore neither able to make a will, nor returning to their homes. 50
