And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 [how it was] when he asked his father and his people, "What is it that you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 and He who will, I hope, forgive me my faults on the Day of the Judgement. 82 "O my Sustainer! Endow me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and make me one with the righteous, 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
