Nay, by the moon, 32 And the night when it withdraweth 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 A warning unto humankind 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every person is a pledge for what he has earned, 38 except those of the right hand 39 in Gardens they will question 40 about the sinners. 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
