and We saved the Children of Israel from a humiliating punishment 30 Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors. 31 And We certainly chose them by knowledge over [all] the worlds. 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 Verily, these (Quraish) people are saying: 34 "There is no dying for us but once; and we shall not be raised again. 35 Then bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful." 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba and those afore them? We destroyed them; verily they were culprits. 37 It was not in play that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. 38 We created them not except for just ends: but most of them do not understand. 39 Verily the Day of sorting out is the time appointed for all of them,- 40 A Day whereon a friend shall not avail a friend at all, nor shall they be helped. 41 Except him on whom Allah has Mercy. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 42
