The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 Recompense fitted! 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
