The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water gushing, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
