O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 Arise and warn, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 stay away from sins 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 And give him vast riches, 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
