Nay! By the moon 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 a warning to everyone of you whether he would like to come forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 “And used to dwell on evil matters with those who think evilly.” 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 Then there will not profit them intercesion of the interceders. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As they were frightened asses 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
