And We have not created the heaven and the earth and all that is between them without purpose; this is what the disbelievers assume; therefore ruin is for the disbelievers, by the fire. 27 Or shall We make those who believe and do righteous deeds as the workers of corruption in the earth, or shall We make the godfearing as the transgressors? 28 We have sent down a Book to you which is blessed, so that people may apply their minds to its revelations, and the men of wisdom may reflect. 29 And We bestowed on David, Solomon. How excellent a slave! Lo! he was ever turning in repentance (toward Allah). 30 When in the evening were presented to him the standing steeds, 31 And he said: "Alas! I did love the good (these horses) instead of remembering my Lord (in my 'Asr prayer)" till the time was over, and (the sun) had hidden in the veil (of night). 32 "Bring them back to me." then began he to pass his hand over (their) legs and their necks. 33 We tried Solomon by placing upon his throne a [lifeless] body; and thereupon he turned towards Us]. 34 He said: "My Lord! Forgive me, and bestow upon me a kingdom such as shall not belong to any other after me: Verily, You are the Bestower." 35 We made the wind subservient to him, to blow gently wherever he desired at his command 36 And the shaitans, every builder and diver, 37 And others fettered in chains. 38 This is Our gift, so bestow thou or withhold, without rendering an account. 39 And verily, nearness to Us awaits him [in the life to come,] and the most beauteous of all goals! 40
